It's midnight and my roommate is in his room listening to country. Luckily for me I have some Porcupine Tree to help me survive this. Honestly, people always joke about how bad country is but I don't think anyone actually knows how bad it truly is. Before I put on my headphones to escape this misery I actually tried to give a couple songs a good listen. Ya know, think about the lyrics, the music, what the theme is, etc. But in the end, it's shit, There isn't an ounce of creatively in it.
Anyways, moving forwards:
Good old Jimbo at work loaned me some Rush. And not just a couple albums, pretty much the whole god damn back catalog. It's odd being so excited that he's excited that I like Rush. That dude fucking delivers when you ask to borrow a couple albums. Hot damn. I'm only 1/2 through the catalog that he lent me but I'm pushing through it all. I never thought I'd be a Rush fan, but low and behold, here I am.
This is a very progressive spring for me so far. Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Rush, and even Nine Inch Nails (Ok, industrial) has been at the top of my playlists lately. Perhaps I'm destined to be a prog head?
Ah, fuck it. I don't always have the patience for 20 minute songs involving 50 instruments and effects. At times it's nice to listen to that quick and dirty death/thrash metal song.
And on a non-music related note. I beat GTA4 after 6 days of release, and 4 days of dedicated playing. That game is still breath taking every time I pick it up. Seriously, GTA4 = It prints money.
